4-H Youth Visit General Assembly, Joe Sam in Raleigh

Raleigh — 4-H Citizenship North Carolina Focus brought over 100 teens to Raleigh to learn about all three branches of State government, discuss how the work of government impacts youth, and to develop the tools necessary to develop a localized action plan for their communities. The meeting was held June 19-21.

Senator Joe Sam Queen met with eight youth from his 47th Senatorial District including: Cullen Owen and Brianna Mickey of Madison County; Sally Schunke of McDowell County; Samantha Sparks and Rachel Strafford of Mitchell County; and Brian Morrow, Caleb Black and Daniel Semon of Yancey County

A prior 4-H member himself, Senator Queen enjoyed speaking with each 4-H member about how the 4-H program positively impacts his or her community.

Senator Joe Sam Queen is a sponsor of Senate Bill 1438- 4-H Funds. This bill appropriates $34 million to improve 4-H programs across the State. North Carolina 4-H already benefits 208,000 youth across our state with over 23,398 youth participating in 4-H camps.
