• Introduced legislation to correct unfair tax assessment of water and sewer for Haywood County residents

• Worked to secure the Balsam Center, a mental health crisis center in Haywood County

• As Co-Chair of 2004 Flood Relief Committee, made certain that Canton, Clyde and Haywood county citizens needs were met

• Saved mountain research stations and set them on course toward long-term, sustainable success

• Obtained $37,000 grant for Folkmoot

• Gained approval for ¼-cent sales tax benefiting Haywood Community College

• Won funding for Vocational Education initiative at Pisgah High School

• Designated Maggie Valley and Waynesville as Trout Heritage cities
